Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Canopy ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you are a parent or guardian creating an account on behalf of a student, you agree to these terms on behalf of both yourself and the student. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

Description of Service

Canopy is an AI-powered tutoring platform designed for K-12 students. Our AI tutor, Wren, provides personalized educational support to help students with their homework and learning. Canopy is a supplementary learning tool and is not a substitute for professional instruction, classroom teaching, or qualified tutoring.

Age Requirements

Canopy is intended for use by K-12 students under the supervision of a parent or guardian. All student accounts must be associated with a parent or guardian account holder. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we require verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13. The parent or guardian is the account holder and is responsible for all activity under the account.

AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Canopy uses artificial intelligence to generate tutoring responses. While every AI response passes through a safety vetting layer before reaching the student, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies. Students and parents should always verify important information with a teacher or other qualified source. Canopy is meant to support learning, not replace critical thinking or professional guidance.

Acceptable Use

When using Canopy, you agree to:

  • Use the Service for educational purposes only
  • Not attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any safety filters or content moderation
  • Not abuse, harass, or attempt to manipulate the AI tutor
  • Not use the Service to generate harmful, inappropriate, or non-educational content
  • Not share your account credentials with others

Account Responsibility

The parent or guardian who creates an account is responsible for all activity that occurs under that account, including the student's use of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for supervising your student's use of Canopy as you see fit.

Intellectual Property

The Canopy platform, including its design, features, and content, is owned by [Company Name] and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Student-generated content, including questions asked and homework images uploaded, remains the property of the student and their parent or guardian. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to use this content solely to provide and improve the tutoring experience.

Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for detailed information about how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Limitation of Liability

[Company Name] provides Canopy on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any AI-generated tutoring content. To the fullest extent permitted by law, [Company Name] shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. AI tutoring is provided on a best-effort basis and is not guaranteed to be accurate or complete.
